Throughout this atypical job search in a post-pandemic world, creativity has to be the forefront of landing a job. Case in point, a number of people have landed a career due to their creatively made resumés such as Emily Vu whose resumé looked like a Spotify playlist which landed her an internship at Spotify.

In an attempt to hone in on a job, candidates must try anything to make themselves stand out in a sea of applicants and I am no different. Not only has my resumé gone through massive rewrites and design choices to be adaptable across multiple job applications.

But — so, has my portfolio.

Through dabbling in website design, blog publishing and social media, I have learn to integrate creativity in something as mundane as a portfolio. This by-product of creativity in the hopes of honing my skills and honing in on a job has resulted in the creation of a flipbook portfolio created using Flipsnack as seen below:

Being a graphic designer or tech savvy isn't a requirement to create a creative resumé or portfolio or even a cover letter. There are many free and easy-to-use software that offer users customizable templates and a variety of features such as the popular designing tool, Canva.

And — if designing is too time-consuming, hire someone to do it, Upwork and Fiverr are job platforms that connect businesses and individuals to graphic design artists.

Overall, it is important to differentiate yourself for recruiters to better choose you for the position and what better way than to showcase skills that fit the job description.
